About
THE DESIGNER
Zack Balmat is an American producer, screenwriter, and digital designer. He fell in love with storytelling at a young age, hand-drawing graphic novels in elementary school before turning to film in college.
At San Diego State University, he directed and starred in his first short films, ZB TV, an unscripted food-demonstration series. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, where he produced Rick Hester’s short film, Saddam. Their short earned four festival nominations, winning Best Ensemble (2024 IndieX), and drew investor interest. Their feature is slated for a 2026 production.
Balmat has written three feature scripts: psychological thriller, Murphy, action-sports drama, Super Nova, and undercover cop thriller, Rat. He also serves as a producer on Trent Dickens’ Southern Gothic horror, The Lock, and Nate Golon’s sci-fi drama, 130 Million Breaths. His investor-focused pitch deck for the latter helped attract Mississippi-based producers, paving the way for its 2026 production.
